About the Institution

Mission Statement

The The Post-Production Academy exists to provide working adults with rigorous, employment-focused vocational training in digital media production. Our programs are built around one standard: graduates should be able to walk into an industry interview, present a professional portfolio, and be hired.

We do not measure our success by enrollment or completion rates alone. We measure it by employment outcomes.

School History & Founding

The The Post-Production Academy was founded by digital media professionals who identified a persistent gap between the skills taught in media training programs and the skills required by employers in post-production, advertising, and digital content industries. The Institute was incorporated as a Utah limited liability company and is pursuing Utah Division of Consumer Protection (DCP) postsecondary school registration.

Academic Policies

Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is essential to program success. Students are expected to attend all scheduled live sessions, including both group sessions and individual 1-on-1 mentorship sessions. Students who miss more than 20% of scheduled sessions may not be eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion.

Students who anticipate an absence should notify their instructor in advance. Session recordings are available for 30 days to help students review missed material, but recordings do not substitute for live attendance toward the attendance requirement.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) to remain in good standing. SAP is evaluated at the midpoint and end of each program based on:

  • Attendance: Minimum 80% of scheduled sessions attended
  • Project Submissions: All assigned portfolio projects submitted
  • Engagement: Active participation in class critiques and feedback sessions

Students not meeting SAP standards will receive a written warning and academic improvement plan. Students who do not meet SAP requirements by the end of the program will not receive a Certificate of Completion. Students may petition for an exception due to documented extenuating circumstances.

Grading & Evaluation

Programs use a portfolio-based evaluation model. There are no traditional letter grades. Student work is evaluated on a completion and quality basis through instructor critique. Feedback is provided on all portfolio projects throughout the program. A final portfolio review occurs in the last session of each program.

Certificate of Completion

Students who successfully meet attendance and project submission requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion from The Post-Production Academy. The certificate is not equivalent to an associate's or bachelor's degree. The Institute does not award academic credit, degrees, or diplomas.

Leave of Absence

Students requiring a leave of absence due to documented medical, family, or emergency circumstances should contact the Institute in writing as soon as possible. Leaves of absence may be granted at the Institute's discretion. Tuition paid for sessions missed during an approved leave will be credited toward a future cohort enrollment, subject to availability.

Academic Calendar

Programs are offered in cohort format on a rolling schedule. Specific start dates, session times, and cohort sizes are communicated to enrolled students prior to the start of each program. The Institute observes major federal holidays and will reschedule any sessions that fall on observed holidays.

Required Disclosures

Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF)

Required STRF Notice — California

The State of California established the Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF) to relieve or mitigate economic loss suffered by a student in an educational program at a qualifying institution, who is or was a California resident while enrolled, or was enrolled in a residency program, if the student enrolled in the institution, prepaid tuition, and suffered an economic loss. Unless relieved of the obligation to do so, you must pay the state-imposed assessment for the STRF, or it must be paid on your behalf, if you are a student in an educational program, who is a California resident, or are enrolled in a residency program, and prepay all or part of your tuition.

You are not eligible for protection from the STRF and you are not required to pay the STRF assessment if you are not a California resident, or are not enrolled in a residency program.

It is important that you keep copies of your enrollment agreement, financial aid documents, receipts, or any other information that documents the amount paid to the school. Questions regarding the STRF may be directed to the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, 1747 N. Market Blvd., Suite 225, Sacramento, CA 95834, (916) 431-6959 or (888) 370-7589.

To be eligible for STRF, you must be a California resident or are enrolled in a residency program, prepaid tuition, paid or had paid on your behalf the STRF assessment, and suffered an economic loss as a result of any of the following:

  1. The institution, a location of the institution, or an educational program offered by the institution was closed or discontinued, and you did not choose to participate in a teach-out plan approved by the Bureau or did not complete a chosen teach-out plan approved by the Bureau.
  2. You were enrolled at an institution or a location of the institution within the 120 day period before the closure of the institution or location of the institution, or were enrolled in an educational program within the 120 day period before the program was discontinued.
  3. You were enrolled at an institution or a location of the institution more than 120 days before the closure of the institution or location of the institution, in an educational program offered by the institution as to which the Bureau determined there was a significant decline in the quality or value of the program more than 120 days before closure.
  4. The institution has been ordered to pay a refund by the Bureau but has failed to do so.
  5. The institution has failed to pay or reimburse loan proceeds under a federally guaranteed student loan program as required by law, or has failed to pay or reimburse proceeds received by the institution in excess of tuition and other costs.
  6. You have been awarded restitution, a refund, or other monetary award by an arbitrator or court, based on a violation of this chapter by an institution or representative of an institution, but have been unable to collect the award from the institution.
  7. You sought legal counsel that resulted in the cancellation of one or more of your student loans and have an invoice for services rendered and evidence of the cancellation of the student loan or loans.

To qualify for STRF reimbursement, the application must be received within four (4) years from the date of the action or event that made the student eligible for recovery from STRF.

A student whose loan is revived by a loan holder or debt collector after a period of noncollection may, at any time, file a written application for recovery from STRF for the debt that would otherwise have been discharged had it, and the student's loan default, occurred during the period described in subdivision (e)(1) of Section 94923. However, no claim can be paid to any student without a social security number or a taxpayer identification number.
